What Are SureSmile Clear Aligners?

SureSmile uses a series of custom-made, clear removable trays to gradually move your teeth according to a prescribed treatment plan.

The aligners fit over your teeth and are less noticeable than traditional metal braces. You remove them for meals, brushing, and flossing, making it easier to maintain your daily oral hygiene routine.

Are Clear Aligners Right for Me?

Clear aligners may be appropriate for concerns such as crowded teeth, gaps, or teeth that have shifted after previous orthodontic treatment.

Your evaluation includes the health of your teeth and gums, how your bite fits together, and the movements needed to reach your goals. Cavities or gum disease may need to be treated before you begin.

Successful treatment also requires consistent aligner wear and attendance at follow-up appointments.

When We Refer to an Orthodontist

Some cases require specialized orthodontic treatment. If your evaluation reveals complex tooth movements, significant bite concerns, or needs beyond the scope of treatment offered in our office, we’ll refer you to an orthodontist.

Our priority is recommending care that fits your needs. We’ll explain the reason for the referral and help you understand the next step.

What to Expect During Treatment

Consultation and records: We discuss your goals, examine your teeth and bite, and obtain photographs, digital impressions, and X-rays as needed.

Personalized planning: If you’re a suitable candidate, we develop your SureSmile treatment plan and explain the proposed tooth movements, expected timeline, and costs.

Receiving your aligners: We check the fit and show you how to insert, remove, and care for your trays. Some plans may require small tooth-colored attachments or other procedures, which we’ll discuss beforehand.

Progress visits: You wear each set of aligners according to our instructions and return for checkups. We monitor your progress and determine whether adjustments or additional aligners are needed.

Retainers: After active treatment, retainers help maintain your tooth positions. We’ll explain your recommended wear schedule and ongoing care.

Wearing and Caring for Your Aligners

Wear your aligners as prescribed, usually 20–22 hours each day, including while sleeping.

Remove them for meals and drinks other than cool, plain water. Clean your teeth before reinserting them, follow the recommended cleaning instructions, and store your aligners in their case when not in use.

Consistent wear is essential. Skipping wear time or changing trays without instructions can affect your progress.

Costs, Insurance & Payment Options

The cost of SureSmile treatment depends on the complexity of your case and the treatment needed.

We’ll provide an estimate and explain what your plan includes. Some dental insurance policies offer orthodontic benefits, but eligibility, age limits, and lifetime maximums vary. Our team can help you understand your anticipated coverage.

Financing through Cherry is available, subject to approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does SureSmile treatment take?
Treatment time varies with the tooth movements needed, your response to treatment, and how consistently you wear your aligners. We’ll discuss an estimated timeline after your evaluation.

Is SureSmile the same as Invisalign?
SureSmile and Invisalign are different clear-aligner brands. Our practice uses SureSmile to treat appropriate cases.

Will I need braces instead?
Some cases may benefit from braces or another orthodontic approach. If your needs are too complex for treatment in our office, we’ll refer you to an orthodontist to discuss suitable options.

Can I eat with my aligners in?
Remove your aligners before eating. You should also remove them for drinks other than cool, plain water.

Will I need retainers afterward?
Yes. Teeth can shift after treatment, so wearing retainers as directed is an important part of maintaining your results.
